About Advah Designs

We are a new business in Boston dedicated to marking Jewish life cycle events with ritual and beauty. Each of our unique and beautiful prayer shawls (tallit) and wedding canopies (chuppah) is made by textile communities committed to environmental sustainability and fair wages. Our mission is to create Jewish ritual textiles that will be cherished by our customers and passed down for generations, and that bring true value and beauty to the communities who create and use them.

The Job

Responsibilities include:
  • Growing Advah Design’s social media presence and following, focusing on Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest
  • Increasing traffic and readership of the Advah Designs Blog
  • Writing one blog post each week, including guest blog posts for media outlets
  • Developing a marketing strategy for reaching out to 6th and 7th graders to let them know about our tallits (prayer shawls)
  • Prepare for the launch of a tallit (prayer shawl) design contest that engages hundreds of middle school students across the country.
Who We’re Looking For

If you’d like to spend your summer doing the coffee run and filing papers, this is not for you. But if you’re looking for real leadership opportunities to take initiative and develop a marketing and communications strategy of an exciting new small business, let’s talk!

The perfect person for this internship is:

  • Looking for an opportunity to take initiative and have real leadership opportunities at a start-up
  • Passionate about the mission and values of Advah Designs
  • Very comfortable using social media platforms, particularly Instagram and Pinterest
  • A great writer able to communicate inspiring stories to a wide audience
  • Eager to learn about running a small business focused on ethical and sustainable business practices
  • A self-starter who needs minimal supervision and likes to take a project and run with it
Advah Designs is run out of a home office in Roslindale, and coffee shops around the city. The ideal candidate is flexible and able to work from home, at coffee shops, and travel to meetings within Boston (all locations are T-accessible). For the right person, there may be opportunities to move into a paid position next year.

No resumes necessary! Please send an email with the subject line "Marketing and Communication Summer Intern" to sarah@advahdesigns.com. Your email should outline your experience, why you're the perfect person for this internship, how your ideals align with Advah Designs, and links to your social media accounts. Please also send or link to two writing samples (if you have them personal essays or blog posts are preferred over third person school assignments.) Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
